Pemblewick Press is a small publisher committed to providing middle school students (grades 6 through 9) with challenging yet highly readable social studies and history textbooks. These textbooks are intended for the classroom as well as for the homeschool.

Our books cover a range of topics - the history and culture of ancient China and the later Chinese dynasties, Native American history (tribal cultures of the Americas as well as the great ancient civilizations -  Maya, Inca, and Aztec),  the age of Alexander the Great in Europe and Asia (a classical encounter of West and East), the origins and the early history and culture of Islam (with emphasis upon Muslim beliefs, practices, and scholarly achievements), and the creative but turbulent times of the Renaissance (a golden age of art and literature) and the Reformation.

Our textbooks are thoroughly researched and comprehensive in scope, each describing in great detail the daily life, religious beliefs,  art and architecture,  economy, and the governing principles of a society that flourished in early times.  The text is enlivened by colorful portraits of famous rulers, poets, artists, scholars, and warriors as well as animated descriptions of local cuisine, fashion trends, favorite pastimes,  festivals, and popular myths and legends .

Every chapter concludes with review questions, suggestions for discussion, and numerous projects and activities. All of our textbooks include timelines,  maps, glossaries, charts, bibliographies, and helpful resources for further research.

Also available is a collection of plays (for grades 4-6) based upon well-known myths and legends.
